Located in beautiful mid-coast Maine.
Serving marine, business, and residential clients since 1997.
Aurora Sails and Canvas was founded by Will Dennett in 1997. Will began making sails at the age of 17 on the Gulf Coast of Texas. From Texas to Australia to Penobscot Bay, from a shop in the back of a barn to the present day sail loft in Rockport, Will brings his 35+ years of sail making expertise to the mid-coast. His focus in the shop is on canvas fabrication. Jen Iott joined Aurora in 1999 as a canvas fabricator focusing on cushions and interiors. Self-taught, Jen's skill and experience comes with a creative aptitude and a focus on management.
After years of building a solid reputation and a strong customer base, it was necessary to expand with additional employees and a new location. Andrew Gallison was hired in 2013 as the lead sailmaker bringing over 35 years experience. Stefan Christof came to us with a BFA in printmaking and experience in another sail loft. He is in charge of canvas service and organization and Suzanne Dunavent-White is aiding in office operations. In 2014 Aurora Sails and Canvas finished construction of their new shop space on Park Street in Rockport just up from Simonton Corner. The new shop is purpose built, centrally located and provides for easier management of sail making and large projects.
